On Friday April 25, 2008, Allen County TRIAD sponsored an Unwanted Medication Disposal Program at 7 local Walgreens stores collecting a grand total of over 1,000 pounds of unwanted and expired medications. In partnership with Walgreens, the Environmental Protection Agency, local city and county departments, volunteers from the Volunteer Center @ RSVP and other local agencies, Allen County TRIAD sponsored this event aimed at properly disposing unwanted medications in a way that does not harm the environment.
On Wednesday April 23, the Volunteer Center @ RSVP hosted its annual recognition honoring the service of 923 volunteers. During 2007, these volunteers served a total of 161,432 hours in the Allen County community at locations such as hospitals, schools, museums, faith based organizations, city and county government agencies and over 80 not for profit organizations. Jean Joley, Executive Director of the Volunteer Center @ RSVP, presented a symbolic "check" in the amount of $3,030,078.64 to Mayor Tom Henry and Allen County Sheriff Kenny Fries.. These dollar figure represents the value of the hours of volunteer service according to statistics from the Points of Light Foundation.

The Volunteer Center @ RSVP wants to express its gratitude to the Home Depot Foundation for their generous donation of $2,500. These funds will be used for ongoing recruiment and placement of volunteers in Allen County. Last year, volunteers from the Volunteer Center @ RSVP contributed over 166,000 hours of volunteer service to faith based organizations and not profit, social services and government agencies in Allen County.
